blog1Have you been Keeping up with the Kardashians lately? If not, I’m surprised because they are everywhere!

This clan of women have been dominating the social media platforms, television ratings, and even started to work on applications for smartphones. Most recently, the women of the Kardashian/Jenner clan posed together for the 50th anniversary cover(s) of Cosmopolitan magazine. The six women pose together on one cover, while the other three Kardashian girls, Kim, Khole and Kourtney have solo covers.

Usually, anniversary covers like this get attention for having four different covers, but in this case it is something else that caught people’s eye. On the cover featuring the whole Kardashian/Jenner clan, Cosmo labels the women “America’s First Family”.

But wait… doesn’t America already have a first family? The term “First Family” is usually a term used for the president and his family.

blog2This headline caused a huge controversy because of the comparison between the Kardashians and the Obamas. Cosmo faced a huge backlash after revealing the cover on Twitter and Instagram. The headline went trending on Twitter after a few hours. People were outraged and quick to correct the magazine with pictures of the Obamas. People on Instagram stated that they weren’t interested in the cover because of the misrepresentation of the headline.

Maybe this was a bit of a foreseeing, since Kim Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West, unofficially announced his interest in presidency for 2020.

It’s safe to say that Cosmos editorial team didn’t mean to compare the two families. Their intent was to simply highlight the Kardashians importance in American pop culture. Maybe if Cosmo tries another bold headline, they will think of the outcome of this cover.

All in all, this is a Cosmopolitan Magazine cover we are talking about people! Everyone should realize that the phrase, “America’s First Family” is put under the “Easiest Workout for an Epic Ass!” headline, so a grain of salt should be taken here!
